Social Studies
As a highly qualified teacher of social studies, I feel that it is very important to provide students the tools they need to organize and expand their questioning and understanding of the world around them. Through an examination of early Michigan history, students became historians, explorers, geographers, economists and questioners and thinkers. Using primary and secondary sources, as well as nonfiction and fiction texts, students worked to answer the questions historians ask and shared their conclusions with the class. Students continued to develop important collaborative and independent-learning skills.
